FAQ

Do I need to have pain or injury to benefit from a bike fit?

1

No. Many riders come in simply to ride more comfortably, more efficiently, or to prepare for a longer event. A fit is just as valuable for a healthy rider who wants to perform better as it is for someone dealing with knee pain or numbness.

How long does a session take?

2

A Complete Fit can take up to 3 hours. Some riders need more time than others — if you're new to cycling or come in with very specific issues, we'll prioritise accordingly. A follow-up is always included if we need to fine-tune after you've ridden in the new position.

What should I bring?

3

Your bike, cycling shoes, and normal riding kit. If you use insoles or orthotics, bring those too. If you have existing pain or injury, mention it when you book — it helps me prepare.

Why do you start with an off-the-bike assessment?

4

Because your body brings patterns to the bike that the bike didn't create. Tight hips, asymmetries, limited ankle mobility — these show up in your pedal stroke and position. Understanding how you move off the bike first gives us a much better starting point than jumping straight to adjustments.

What about saddle comfort — can you help with that?

5

Saddle comfort is often position first, saddle second. Before changing the saddle, we'll check whether your current discomfort could be resolved through position adjustments. I have a small collection of saddles to test if needed. Saddle fit is never just about width — shape, padding, and your position all play a role.

Does crank length really matter?

6

More than most people think. Crank length affects hip angle, lower back load, and knee tracking. Shorter cranks in particular are underused and can make a significant difference for riders with hip impingement, lower back issues, or those doing long-distance riding. I have a crank fitting system to test different lengths when relevant.

What about my shoes and cleats?

7

Your feet are the primary connection to the bike — everything transfers through them. Cleat position affects knee tracking, hip stability, and how efficiently you pedal. Even small adjustments here can have a big impact. I also assess foot structure and use insoles or wedges where helpful.

Do you work on all bike types?

8

Yes — road, gravel, and MTB. If you have a road bike and would like to put TT bars on, I can help with that as well. But for fully dedicated TT bikes, there are better-suited fitters in Munich.

Is a 3D body scan part of your process?

9

No, and intentionally so. Technology can support a fit, but it can't replace observation and feel. What matters is how your body actually moves on the bike — not just what the numbers say. Every adjustment is made on your own bike, so you feel the real effect immediately.

Can a bike fit fix my pain?

10

Often yes, but not always directly. Pain on the bike is usually a symptom — the cause could be position, equipment, movement patterns, or a combination. A fit addresses what's within the bike's scope. If the root cause lies elsewhere (for example in hip stability or muscular imbalances), I'll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.

Will I feel the difference straight away?

11

Often yes — especially in areas like saddle height and cleat setup. But some improvements only become clear after a few rides, as your body adapts to the new position. That's exactly why a follow-up is included: to fine-tune once you've ridden in the real world.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

12

Do you also install components?

A fit is a process, and I'm committed to getting it right. The follow-up is included for exactly that reason — if something doesn't feel right after riding, we sort it out. I don't consider a fit done until you're comfortable on your bike.

Is bike fitting a one-time thing?

13

Not really. Your body changes over time — flexibility, strength, injuries, goals. A fit done two years ago may not reflect where you are today. I offer a discounted Return Fit for riders who want an annual check-in, because your position should evolve with your riding.

Where are sessions held?

14

At my studio on Berg-Isel-Str. in Munich. The exact address is shared after booking.

Yes — if new parts are needed as part of your fit, I can source, install, and fine-tune them directly. Whether it's a new stem, saddle, handlebar, or cranks, everything gets set up properly before you leave.
